Peter Robertson comes to Evergreen Education Group with a rich history of senior leadership roles and consulting experience in public, private, and not-for-profit K-12 institutions. He focuses on integrating technology, instruction, strategy, and operations to innovate in K-12 digital learning and to scale solutions rapidly. His broad educational background allows him to approach problems from multiple angles, delivering solutions that are as pragmatic as they are innovative. In his current role at Evergreen, Peter actively collaborates with clients to directly improve K-12 digital learning opportunities and outcomes. He leverages Evergreen's extensive network and expertise to craft and help implement solutions that can help clients achieve their goals.
Before joining Evergreen, Peter was an independent consultant advising on ed-tech market strategies and operational plans for educational startups. He also served as the President of Laurel Springs School, where he successfully led the online private school to an 80% year-over-year enrollment growth and significantly increased its profitability. During his tenure, he expanded academic programs and diversified marketing efforts to build a more substantial brand presence.
Peter has also had several senior leadership roles in established organizations like Connections Academy (now Pearson), the Educational Testing Service (ETS), and the Cleveland Municipal School District. At Connections, he managed full-time virtual schools, drove enrollment and revenue growth, and successfully implemented strategies for better student engagement, retention, and graduation rates. At ETS, he led the development of an integrated school improvement product suite, including post-merger management of acquired companies and the development of an assessment item bank and other vital resources. In the Cleveland schools, he served as CIO, rebuilding capacity, reducing costs, and leading the development of a data warehouse, standards-based report cards, and school profiles to increase community awareness and engagement.
Finally, Peter’s professional background includes serving as an engagement manager at the global management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, as an educational researcher at the National Center for Restructuring Education, Schools, and Teaching at Teachers’ College in New York, and as a high school history and government teacher at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland.
In addition to his professional roles, Peter has actively participated in civic and educational organizations. He has served on elected school boards and ed-tech industry standards advisory panels and was a mentor and project sponsor at the Cleveland Foundation’s Civic Innovation Lab for the effort that is now Cleveland's Breakthrough Schools charter management organization.
Peter has a BA from Harvard University, an MBA and an MA in educational administration from Columbia University, and an EdD in Online Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. He and his wife are empty-nesters and spend the school year in Cleveland where she is a law professor. In his free time, Peter likes to travel, hike, bike, kayak, and learn how to build things and manage forestland in Maine.
